Semnan province in general and Semnan city in particular has the first position of mines and gypsum reserves in the country. The existence of more than 6 construction plaster production plants has made Semnan province the main plaster manufacturing base of the country and Semnan is the first country in the field of mining and plaster processing.
Davood Maddah, a member of the National Coal and Salt Coalition Center for the Knowledge and Industry of Plaster and the Agent for the Development of the Semnan Gypsum Industry Cluster, told ISNA that there are over 6 active gypsum mines in Semnan. Semnan alone supplies about 2 percent of the world’s gypsum and 2 percent of the country’s gypsum, and is the dominant industry in the gypsum industry.
“If you look at the gypsum industry just turning gypsum into gypsum powder and applying it to buildings, we won’t have anything to say about stabilizing the status quo,” he said.
